А откуда «φαίνω»?

Удивительная история. Как из этого «бах» могло появиться слово «вижу»? Вижу – ВЖ - ΘΣ (φς) – φώς. Слово «φαίνω» - это русское «вид», замены «в» - «φ» и «д» - «ν» (переворот или «д» - «d» - «v»). В слове «fantasy» - «an» - юс. Как и в греческом «φαντάζω», «αν». Сдается мне, что часть греческого конструировали после латыни.
В качестве шутки юмора – Фасмер = морящий свет (Θῶςμηρ).

Теперь понятно, откуда «fine». Просто «вид».
fancy (n.) (иллюзия, воображение, каприз, прихоть). Видите, здесь «t» уже пропала.
mid-15c., contraction of fantasy, it took the older and longer word's sense of "inclination, whim, desire." Meaning "fans of an amusement or sport, collectively" is attested by 1735, especially (though not originally) of the prize ring. The adjective is recorded from mid-18c.
