В английском "ing" окончание в большинстве слов - это продолженное действие - smile - smiling, keep - keepeng etc. При этом "g" не читается (точнее - небный звук "н" - горб языка прижат к небу, звук через нос). Если я правильно понимаю, то это "юс".
Если точное соответствие - то "ние"(нье) - улыбание, держание.
На мой взгляд - здесь не тот случай,хотя звук в окончании тот же. Мое прочтение - КОЛО - КЛ - замены "к" - "G" и "л" - "р", далее разворот. Собственно, тот же случай, как со словом "холм". Еще лучше - "комль" и "camel". Что такое, в сущности, верблюд - холм (или два, если "бактриан").

Фасмер пишет, что старое, еще у Афанасия Никитина. При этом есть вариант сближения с верблюдом.
