zinc (n.)
1650s, from Ger. Zink, perhaps related to Zinke "prong, point;" said to have been used first by Paracelsus (c.1526) on analogy of the form of its crystals after smelting. Zinke is from O.H.G. zint "a point, jag," from P.Gmc. *tindja "tine" (cf. O.N. tindr "point, top, summit," O.E. tind "prong, spike;" cf. tine).
Вот так, фактически олово. Тянуть, господа, изволили. Не металлург, но, по моему скромному разумению, цинк похож на золото. Да, очень весело, в «золоте» тоже корень «ол». То бишь, «вода», «лить». Интересная параллель, учитывая, что золото плавится, льется. Полюбе, то есть «плюмбум» - Pb. Люм – иллюминаты. Свет – он льется.
Циник я, получаюсь. То есть ценю все, что имеет ценность цинка, олова и золота.
Да, ужасная картина – даже на азербайджанском – тоже самое.

1580s, "resembling Cynic philosophers," from cynic + -al (1). By late 17c. the meaning had shaded into the general one of "critical, disparaging the motives of others, captious, sneering, peevish." Related: Cynically.
cynic (n.)
mid-16c., in reference to the ancient philosophy, from Gk. kynikos "a follower of Antisthenes," lit. "dog-like," from kyon (gen. kynos) "dog" (see canine). Supposedly from the sneering sarcasm of the philosophers, but more likely from Kynosarge "Gray Dog," name of the gymnasium outside ancient Athens (for the use of those who were not pure Athenians) where the founder, Antisthenes (a pupil of Socrates), taught. Diogenes was the most famous. Popular association even in ancient times was "dog-like" (Lucian has kyniskos "a little cynic," lit. "puppy"). Meaning "sneering sarcastic person" is from 1590s.
Оказывается – собакин сын. Еще и куницын. Да, богатая фантазия – собаку вывести из куницы. Но, в чем то правы. Цениться – куница. Куна (придуманная историками) – ханская. Даже в Хорватии эта монета сохранилась.
